Major initiative for homeless families in Chhattisgarh: Process of providing pucca houses to 18 lakh families accelerated
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana: Finance Department releases Rs 2560 crore
Raipur, 19 December 2024: The Chhattisgarh government in its Sankalp Patra had expressed its commitment to provide pucca houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) to 18 lakh homeless families of the state under ‘Modi Ki Guarantee’. This important decision was approved in the first cabinet meeting under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai. The Chhattisgarh government has taken another important step towards fulfilling its promise of providing pucca houses to 18 lakh homeless families of the state under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. The Finance Department has released an amount of Rs 2,560 crore including the central and state share to be transferred to the beneficiaries. Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai has said that our aim is to provide pucca houses to all the homeless families of the state under this scheme. This initiative is not only a residential facility but also a means of social and economic upliftment.
So far, an amount of Rs 5,144 crore has been released. According to the information received from the Finance Department, a total amount of Rs 5,144 crore has been released so far in this financial year. The first installment of the Central share of Rs 1,550.30 crore, State share of Rs 1,033.70 crore, totaling Rs 2,584 crore and the second installment of the Central share of Rs 1,535.40 crore, State share of Rs 1,024.60 crore, totaling Rs 2,560 crore has been released. The amount will be directly transferred to the beneficiaries’ accounts soon, which will speed up the construction work. Finance Minister Shri OP Chaudhary informed that efforts are also being made to obtain the third installment amount from the Government of India under the scheme in this financial year, so that the construction of their houses can be completed soon.
