Indian archers have landed at Les Invalides Gardens for the ranking and qualifying rounds. The Paris Olympics is going to officially start from July 26, but the qualifying round of archery has started a day earlier. The men’s and women’s archery teams have entered the qualifying/ranking round today. This round will pave the way for five archery events (men’s, women’s team and individual competition and mixed team event). The ranking of the archers will be prepared on the basis of performance in the qualifying round, on the basis of which they will enter the knockout matches for the medal.

After the women, the men’s team also qualified for the quarter-finals. Tarundeep Rai, Dheeraj Bommadevara and Praveen Jadhav entered for India in the male archer ranking and qualifying rounds. All three performed strongly and took India to the quarter-finals. Dheeraj Bommadevara finished fourth in the men’s ranking round. India finished third and reached the quarterfinals. Tarundeep Rai finished 14th in this competition. His score is 674. Praveen Ramesh Jadhav finished 39th with a score of 658. Korea’s Kim Woojin finished first with a score of 686 while his teammate Kim Jae Deok finished second with a score of 682. Woojin holds the Olympic record. He set an Olympic record with a score of 700 in the Rio de Janeiro Olympics, 2016. Germany’s Unruh Florian was third. His score was 681. No male archer could break the record of America’s Alison Brady. He set a world record with a score of 702 on August 7, 2019.
