Officials should work on the principle of ‘Nagrik Devo Bhava’: Governor Patel

Bhopal: Governor Mangubhai Patel has told the probationary officers of the Indian Administrative Service that they should make their identity as an officer working on the principle of ‘Nagrik Devo Bhava’ similar to the ethos of ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’. Fulfill the responsibilities with dedication and compassion, not just as an administrator, but like an architect of developed India. Governor Patel was addressing the trainee probationary Indian Administrative Service officers of R.C.V.P. Noronha Academy of Administration. Officers of Madhya Pradesh cadre of Indian Administrative Service year 2024 paid a courtesy visit to the Governor at Raj Bhavan. Additional Chief Secretary to the Governor K.C. Gupta was present on this occasion. Governor Patel said that Madhya Pradesh is a tribal-dominated state. Its development is possible only when there is sympathy and empathy in the efforts for the welfare and development of the tribes. He said that it is a matter of pride that the policies we have today, the decisions that have been taken and the work that he is doing under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi are going to shape the future of the next thousand years. The need of the hour is that administrative officers should make work processes and policies in accordance with the ambitious goals of the development of the overall India in the coming years. The overall development of India means ensuring that no village, no family and no citizen is left behind on the path of development.

Governor Patel said that the administrative officer should work with the spirit of a servant. Politeness and sensitivity are necessary in behavior and language. It is the responsibility of administrative officers to take development to the people struggling with poverty, deprivation and ignorance. He said that the welfare of the deprived is the top priority of the government. Through the Vikasit Bharat Abhiyan, the entire government had reached their doorstep. As a governor, he himself had visited 21 districts. He said that as an officer, you will have to work with sympathy and empathy towards the deprived, so give priority to reaching the most backward areas and individuals. Experience their deficiencies, expectations and needs. Try to overcome them. He said that during work, you will come across such parents who may not be sending their children to school because the school is far away. Your cooperation is very important in solving their problem. Tell them through your behavior that you are their servant. Governor Patel narrated the example of asking for water at the house of a deprived person. The officer reached the house of the deprived class and asked for drinking water. When the water came late, he asked the reason for the delay before drinking it. When he came to know that the delay was due to asking for a water pot, he did not drink water. He said that he will drink water in the pot available at home. This awareness and behavior of the officer drew a complete picture of the situation of the deprived in the colony in front of him. Along with this, he also got the feedback of the real situation through the intimacy with the family.

The Governor was presented with a souvenir and angavastram on behalf of the academy. Director Mujir Burhan Khan, Director of Naronha Academy of Administration and Management, gave the welcome address. He gave information about the 52-week training course for the officers of the Indian Administrative Service. He told that the officers will receive 5 weeks of training in the academy.
