Now more than one train can run on a track: SECR's 460km section fitted with automatic signal system; no fear of accidents
The South East Central Railway (SECR) has equipped its 460-kilometer section of railway lines between Bilaspur, Raipur, and Nagpur with an automatic signal system. This is a significant achievement. With the commissioning of automatic signaling in a 136-kilometer section, the Bilaspur zone has become the first in the country. This will make it easier to operate trains on time.
After the installation of this modern system, now trains can run one after the other within a range of 100-100 meters. The system is operational, and many times people have started to be confused seeing trains running one after the other. In such a situation, some people also post on social media out of fear of accidents.
Railways claim that with the implementation of the automatic block signal system, more than one train can run on the same route in one block section. This has increased both the speed and the number of trains on railway lines. Moreover, there is no need to wait for the next station for a standing train to depart. As soon as a train advances from the station yard, it receives a green signal, meaning that another train can easily run behind it in one block section. Information about the location of trains is also available.
Using modern technology, SECR has also made changes in the signal system of tracks. Now, the automatic block signaling system is being used. Signals have been placed at a certain distance between two stations in this system.
In the new arrangement, signals have been placed approximately one to one-and-a-half kilometers ahead from the advanced starter signal of the station yard. As a result, trains keep running behind each other at a certain distance with the help of signals.
