Nipun Bharat Mission: Mobile Library Van launched
’Pathan Abhiyan'- Campaign to foster reading habit.
Raipur, Two-mobile library vans were launched under the Pathan Abhiyan- Reading Campaign in Chhattisgarh under the joint aegis of State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) and ‘Room to Read’.
The program aims to inculcate reading habits among children and communities across the state.
The program was launched on Friday by SCERT Director Shri Rajendra Kumar Katara with Additional Director Shri JP Rath and Room To Read’s State Head Shri Yashvardhan Uniyal and along with SCERT’s officers and employees.
As per officials, the objective of this mobile library is to foster reading skills among children and communities. The library van will organize various reading activities in 30 schools and clusters under Bagbahara development block of Mahasamund district for 10 days. Through these activities, the habit of reading will be encouraged among school children and the targeted community members under the Ullas program will be motivated to actively participate in this campaign.
Considering the objective of reading skills, which is an important part of basic literacy SCERT and Room to Read have organized this program recently under the Pathan Abhiyan to develop reading habits in children. During the reading campaign, various activities will be organized in schools and communities, so that more and more people can become a part of this campaign. Under this program, a 6-week plan has been framed in all the primary schools of the state, which includes interesting learning activities like reading, writing, painting and community participation. The mobile library van will provide books and reading material to the children and organize various workshops to explain the importance of reading to them.
This campaign is expected to promote basic literacy and firmly establish reading skills in children. The aim of the reading campaign will be to create awareness about reading along with ensuring the participation of people in schools and communities through various activities.
