Organizers announced on May 9th that due to the current tensions between India and Pakistan, they’ve had to reschedule. They prioritized the safety of all athletes and event staff, making the postponement necessary. This event was highly anticipated, marking Neeraj Chopra’s return to India after a long time. Top javelin throwers from around the globe were set to participate, including two-time world champion Anderson Peters (Grenada), Olympic gold medalist Thomas Rohler (Germany), and Julius Yego (Kenya). Unfortunately, the competition is now on hold, with a new date to be announced later.

A new date will be announced soon. Organizers emphasized that national security is paramount, and everyone in the sports world stands with the armed forces during this challenging time. The postponement also impacted the IPL. On May 9th, the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) made a significant decision. Due to the ongoing India-Pakistan tensions, the remaining matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season have been postponed for a week. The BCCI, after consulting with officials, decided to halt the tournament temporarily. A new schedule and venues will be determined soon. They’re aiming for a quick announcement regarding the revised IPL schedule and locations.
