Naya Raipur dreams of becoming an IT hub, employment opportunities for youth

Raipur (Chhattisgarh),: Due to the hard work of the Chhattisgarh government and the new industrial policy, Naya Raipur is now rapidly moving towards becoming a new hub for IT companies. There are also huge employment opportunities for the youth here. In this direction, Square Business Service Private Limited has opened a BPO in Naya Raipur, where about 350 youth are getting employment. These also include candidates from Naxal-affected Dantewada, Gariaband and Dhamtari districts. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai inaugurated Square’s BPO in CBD Building of Naya Raipur. NRDA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Saurabh Kumar said, “The Chhattisgarh government has a vision, and the Chief Minister has emphasized on job creation for educated youth. Under this objective, the Naya Raipur Development Authority (NRDA) is giving plug-and-play space to companies. So far, 1800 seats have been allotted to four companies.”

Giving further information about the efforts to make Naya Raipur an IT hub, the CEO said, “Seats have been given to many companies, including Teleperformance. We are also building a separate IT tower here. There are constant inquiries from companies and youth, and we are trying to create 5000-6000 jobs soon.” Saurabh Kumar also said that youth from Naxal-affected areas getting employment in BPOs is a positive step, and its long-term impact will be visible in the future. Square’s Raipur centre head Prashant Kumar Samal said, “350 employment opportunities have already been created here and we plan to increase it to 600-650 in the next 4-6 months. The company aims to create 1,000-1,200 jobs in a year and a half.”

He said that of the 350 employees working here, 92 per cent are from Chhattisgarh, while the remaining 8 per cent are from other states such as Telangana, Odisha, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh. “IT companies are coming here due to the efforts of the Chhattisgarh government, and employment opportunities in the IT sector are opening up for youths of the Bastar region as well,” said Square BPO employee Kishan Mandavi, who hails from Telam village in Naxal-affected Dantewada district. “Earlier we thought IT companies were only in Bangalore, Mumbai or Gurgaon, but now these opportunities are available in Chhattisgarh as well,” she said. “With the support of the government, we have been able to improve our skills and are now able to work in this field,” said Manorama Sahu, a resident of Dhamtari district. “Apart from work, employees here are also given time for recreational activities and interactive sessions,” she said. The initiative is expected to make Naya Raipur an important hub in the IT and tech sector, opening up new avenues of employment for the state’s youth.
