National news: Tear gas shells fired on farmers in Hisar, they were insisting on going to Khanauri border.
Farmers will celebrate Black Day today in protest against the death of farmer Shubhakaran Singh on Jind’s Khanauri border. There was peace throughout the day on the borders on Thursday. It has been announced to take out a tractor protest rally on the highways across the country on Monday (26 March) and a farmer-laborer mahapanchayat in Delhi on 14 March.
SHO got hurt
SHO Chandrabhan got injured in stone pelting. Some farmers including farmer leader Suresh Koth have been detained by the police. Farmers have also been injured in police action.
Farmers pelted stones in Hisar, police stopped using force
When the farmers tried to move forward at 2 pm on the concrete front of Khedi Chowpata in Hisar, the police stopped them. Police have installed barricades on both sides of the road. Vehicles have also been stopped at the spot. When the farmers started coming out through the unpaved roads, the police tried to stop them there too. There was a long debate between the police and the farmers. Meanwhile, when the police lathicharged, the farmers also pelted stones at the police. After this the police retreated. Policemen were seen running from the spot. Police also fired tear gas shells. Later the police personnel also started pelting stones at the farmers.
