National Games 2025: Grand Closing Ceremony Set for February 14 in Haldwani
The National Games 2025 will conclude on Friday, February 14, with a grand closing ceremony. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be present at the event, which will take place at Gaulapar Stadium in Haldwani, where arrangements are being made to accommodate more than 15,000 spectators. The ceremony will feature a recap of the key moments from the games, along with a special showcase of Manaskhand’s cultural heritage. Athletes and record holders from across the country will be honored for their achievements during the event. Before the main ceremony, Kumaoni singer Shweta Mahara and the Digari Group will entertain the audience with traditional performances. Later, Bollywood playback singer Sukhwinder Singh will give a special musical performance. The event will also be attended by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Indian Olympic Association President PT Usha, and Sports Minister Rekha Arya. A significant moment in the ceremony will be the handover of the National Games flag to the next host state.
Haldwani Prepares for a Grand Farewell to the Games
CM Pushkar Singh Dhami is set to visit Haldwani today, and the city is being decorated in a traditional mountain theme. At Nariman Chowk in Kathgodam, statues of Chholiya dancers and folk artists have been installed to highlight the cultural identity of Kumaon.
Sports Minister Rekha Arya emphasized that with the cooperation of all stakeholders, the National Games have been successfully organized, and the closing ceremony should be equally spectacular and seamless. She stressed the importance of proper lodging arrangements for sports enthusiasts coming from different districts of Uttarakhand. She also noted that Uttarakhand finished in 7th place in the 38th National Games, which is a proud achievement. All medal-winning athletes from Uttarakhand will be invited to the closing ceremony. To welcome the chief guest, cultural performances will be arranged at various points from Tikonia to Gaulapar Stadium.
Traffic and Logistics Arrangements for the Event
District Magistrate Vandana has assigned specific responsibilities to officials to ensure the closing ceremony is both grand and historic. She mentioned that eight designated parking zones have been created outside the stadium, providing space for nearly 2,500 vehicles.vAdditionally, 350 shuttle buses will transport attendees from different locations to the stadium. A traffic diversion plan has also been put into effect to ensure smooth movement throughout the city.
