MP ESB: No More Normalization, NEP Method to be Used for Result Calculation

MP ESB Result: New Evaluation System for Exam Results

Bhopal (MP ESB Result): The Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board (ESB) is introducing a new approach this year to improve the accuracy of exam results. In the past, there have been instances where candidates received scores exceeding the total possible marks, raising concerns about the evaluation process.

New Normalization Technique Introduced

To address this issue, the ESB is implementing a revised Normalization Formula by adopting the Normalized Equi-Percentile (NEP) Scaling Technique. This change aims to make result calculations more accurate and reliable.

Updated Guidelines for Exams

The ESB has officially issued new guidelines, stating that this method will be applied to all exams conducted from this year onward. The board has also revoked its previous order from August 4, 2016, replacing it with the updated process. Now, for exams that take place in multiple sessions, results will be calculated using the NEP method. This will also apply to candidates who appear for multiple subject papers in a single session and to multi-stage recruitment exams.

How Results Will Be Calculated?

For single-stage exams, the percentile score of candidates in each session will be calculated based on the number of candidates and their scores. These percentile scores from all sessions will then be compiled to generate the final merit list. For multi-stage exams, the percentile scores from the first stage will be used to determine a weighted value. Then, the T-score will be calculated, which considers half of the maximum paper marks and other statistical factors.

Why This Change?

Due to the limitations of the previous normalization formula, several cases emerged where candidates received marks higher than the total possible score. To fix this issue, the new NEP formula has been developed.“We noticed discrepancies in the old normalization method, which sometimes led to unrealistic scores. The NEP technique will ensure a fair and accurate evaluation process.”
