Monsoon becomes active in Chhattisgarh, heavy rain may occur in Raipur today too

The southwest monsoon is now moving forward with great speed. Monsoon has become active across the state except Surguja division of Chhattisgarh and monsoon rain has started in various areas.

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of lightning along with thunderstorms and rain in various areas of the state in the coming two days. This year there is a possibility of more rain than normal as compared to last year. However, there is a possibility of rain activity decreasing slightly between 23 and 25 June.

Due to the monsoon showers for the last few days, the maximum temperature has also dropped and the cold wind has increased the coolness in the weather.

Weather expert HP Chandra said that now favorable conditions are created for the southwest monsoon to move forward.

Monsoon is likely to become active in more areas in the coming 3 to 4 days. Due to the effect of monsoon trough as well as cyclonic storm, light to moderate rain will occur in many areas on Saturday. On Friday, monsoon has also reached Pendra, Korba and Raigarh districts. Thus, monsoon has reached all the areas of the state except Surguja division.

Rainfall occurred in these areas

5 cm rain occurred in Kusmi-Gidhauri-Mahasamund-Pandhariya, 4 cm in Pusaur-Raipur city-Janjgir-Lormi, 3 cm in Sonakhan-Ahiwara-Devbhog-Bilaspur-Nawagarh. Along with these areas, light to moderate rain occurred across the state.
