Minor elephant successfully rescued from Katni
Bhopal. Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) L. Krishnamurthy said that due to the minor elephant straying into Katni district yesterday and to prevent human-elephant conflict, the minor elephant was successfully rescued on Wednesday.
Shri Krishnamurthy has said that Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, Kanha Tiger Reserve, Sanjay Tiger Reserve, Rescue Squad and Katni and Umaria Forest Division staff were involved in rescuing the minor elephant. He said that at present the minor elephant is completely healthy and has been kept in Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve under the supervision of wildlife doctors.
Shri Krishnamurthy said that in its report, IVRI has issued an advisory for the areas around Bandhavgarh. In this, points like awareness among villagers, not allowing cattle to graze on damaged crops have been given. He said that the concerned departments have been informed in this regard and the regional staff has been directed to take action.
