A Recipe for Holi Fun: Mini Masala Samosas

Ingredients:

For the Dough:

All-purpose flour: 2 cups
Ajwain (carom seeds): 1/2 teaspoon
Oil: 1/4 cup (for kneading)
Salt: To taste
Water: As needed

For the Filling:

Boiled potatoes: 2-3 (mashed)
Green peas: 1/2 cup (boiled)
Finely chopped onion: 1/2 cup
Finely chopped green chilies: 2-3
Ginger-garlic paste: 1 teaspoon
Coriander powder: 1 teaspoon
Red chili powder: 1/2 teaspoon
Garam masala: 1/4 teaspoon
Amchur powder: 1/4 teaspoon
Oil: 2 tablespoons
Salt: To taste
Fresh coriander leaves: Finely chopped

Let’s Get Cooking!

Making the Dough:

In a bowl, combine the flour, ajwain, salt, and oil. Mix well.
Gradually add water and knead a firm dough.
Cover the dough and let it rest for 15-20 minutes.

Preparing the Filling:

Heat oil in a pan and sauté the onion, green chilies, and ginger-garlic paste until fragrant.
Add the mashed potatoes and green peas, mixing well.
Stir in the coriander powder, red chili powder, garam masala, amchur powder, and salt. Cook for a few minutes until the spices are fragrant.
Stir in the fresh coriander leaves and turn off the heat.

Shaping the Samosas:

Divide the dough into small balls.
Roll out each ball into a long shape.
Cut each rolled-out dough in half.
Shape one half into a triangle and fill it with the prepared filling.
Seal the edges of the triangle tightly, making sure there are no gaps.
Repeat the process with the remaining dough to make more samosas.

Frying the Samosas:

Heat oil in a pan.
Fry the samosas until they turn a beautiful golden brown, ensuring they are cooked through.
Serve hot with chutney or sauce of your choice.

Tips for Perfect Mini Samosas:

Feel free to add your favorite vegetables to the filling, like carrots, cauliflower, or even paneer.
For extra crispiness, you can add a little bit of semolina to the dough.
If you prefer, you can bake the samosas in an air fryer for a healthier option.
