MG Motor is preparing to launch the facelift version of Astor compact SUV in India soon. A new SUV from the carmaker has been spotted ahead of its launch. This SUV is basically based on Astor, but runs on hybrid powertrain. According to media reports, the upcoming Astor may also have a hybrid option.
The new generation MG Astor will have a newly updated front fascia with a redesigned grille, tweaked bumper and updated headlamps. The nose grille looks flatter than before, and the bonnet looks slightly longer. The side profile will be updated with newly designed alloy wheels and a new shoulder line. Its wing mirrors will have lane watch cameras, and the glass area appears to be slightly larger than before. At the rear, it will get a newly designed bumper, wraparound taillamps and a newly designed tailgate. According to reports, the new MG Astor will be offered with three powertrain options; Can be offered with petrol, diesel and hybrid.
Now talking about the interior of the Aster facelift, it will get a black theme with white accents on the door trims and seats and a 3-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel with mounted controls. The cabin will feature a new dashboard and new center control, twin-screen display, new gear selector and wireless smartphone charger. Inside internet is also available in this car. It is expected that it will follow more commands in the facelift model.
As far as the engine is concerned, you may hardly see any changes in it. Currently, Astor is available in 1.5-litre petrol and 1.3-litre turbocharged-petrol engines. For transmission, it has the option of 5-speed manual, 5-speed CVT and 6-speed torque converter. Its starting ex-showroom price can be around Rs 10 lakh. In the Indian market, it will compete with Honda Elevate, Maruti Grand Vitara and Kia Seltos.
