Metro train operation will start between Indore-Ujjain: Chief Minister Dr. Yadav

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that the state government is going to take important steps in view of the need for a new traffic plan for the big cities of the state. The most important in this direction is the decision to operate a metro train between Indore-Ujjain, which will also be useful for the convenience of movement for the devotees in Simhastha 2028. The report of the feasibility survey related to running the metro between Indore-Ujjain has been received. In the coming time, the facility of Vande Metro from Indore Airport to Mahakal Temple will be an important gift for the people of the state and tourists and devotees coming from the country and abroad. Different cities will be able to connect with each other in a better way. The work of preparing a metro line in a total length of 16.74 kilometers from AIIMS to Karond Square in Bhopal will be completed in three phases. The first phase is of seven kilometers, which includes 8 stations (elevated). It was also told on the progress of Indore Metro that work is being done in a total of 31.32 kilometers. A total of 28 stations will be built in Indore.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, after reviewing the progress of Bhopal and Indore Metro projects in a meeting held at Samtva Bhavan in the Chief Minister’s residence office on Saturday, said that for smooth traffic, means like Vande Metro, rope-way, electric-bus and cable-car will be used along with metro in big cities of the state like Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur and Ujjain. In view of the upcoming requirements, necessary arrangements will be made by taking local public representatives into confidence. Under the use of transport options, necessary decisions will also be taken after considering Ujjain to Omkareshwar route, Bhopal to Indore, Jabalpur to Gwalior.

Vande Metro Circle Train will run

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that as per the recent discussion with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, there has been an agreement to run Vande Metro for various cities in Madhya Pradesh. Vande Metro Circle Train will be a big gift for the citizens in place of the old metro. In such cities where traffic pressure is increasing, it has been agreed to start the facility of circle train to make an integrated plan for metro train operation. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav also discussed with the Railway Minister about the operation of Vande Metro running at a speed higher than the speed of metro train, use of modern technology and benefiting industrial areas like Pithampur-Dewas. Regarding the use of narrow-gauge and other rail lines available in some cities of the state, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that its survey and study should be completed so that the rail track which is not currently in use can be used.

Urban Development and Housing Minister Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya, Minister of State for Urban Development and Housing Smt. Pratima Bagri, Chief Secretary Smt. Veera Rana, Additional Chief Secretary Chief Minister’s Office Dr. Rajesh Rajoura, Principal Secretary Chief Minister’s Office Shri Sanjay Kumar Shukla, Principal Secretary Urban Development and Housing Shri Neeraj Mandloi and officials of Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited were present in the meeting.

Progress of Bhopal Metro Rail Project

The metro train operation in Bhopal has also been tested in the month of October. A total of 16 stations will be built in the Orange Line, of which 14 will be elevated and 02 will be underground. In the second phase, a total of 14 elevated stations will be built in the length of 14.21 km (Blue Line) from Bhadbhada Square to Ratnagiri Tiraha. The third phase includes work of 9.74 km from Subhash Nagar to Karond Square. Subhash Nagar has a joint metro rail depot and Pul Bogda is an interchange station between the two lines. Civil and system work is in progress in the first phase. Contracts are being done soon for civil work in the second phase, while contracts related to elevated and underground for the third phase have been concluded. Commercial operation of metro train in the first phase will start in the coming months. The work of the second and third phases will be completed in the year 2027 for commercial operation.
