Mayor and Municipal Commissioner studied cleanliness innovations of Indore

State Urban Development Agency organized a four-day study cum tour program in Indore

(Raipur, 25 June 2025). Raipur Municipal Corporation Mayor Meenal Chaubey, Commissioner Vishwadeep, Superintendent Engineer UK Dhalendra, Zone Health Officer Atmanand Sahu and Solid Waste Management Expert Pramit Chopra attended the study cum tour program in Indore. This day-long program was organized by the State Urban Development Agency (SUDA) in Indore Municipal Corporation with the aim of strengthening the campaign of total cleanliness of Chhattisgarh. With the experience gained from this program, the participants will be able to give a new direction to innovation and sustainable urban development in the cities of Chhattisgarh. This program has been organized in two phases for the mayors, commissioners and concerned officials of all 14 municipal corporations of the state.

Saw Indore’s Integrated Command and Control Center Mayor Meenal Chaubey praised the strict implementation of single-use plastic ban and the system of strict penalty in Indore. The Mayor and Corporation Commissioner saw Indore’s door-to-door garbage collection system done through ICT based monitoring and NGOs. Apart from the Swachhata model adopted for waste separation, he also inspected the complaint redressal app, GPS-tracked garbage vehicle, waste transfer station and zone-based door-to-door garbage collection system. He interacted with Swachhata Mitras and common citizens and understood public participation in solid waste management. He also visited the Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC) of Indore and understood its functioning. He also observed the 311 complaint redressal app and learned about the real-time complaint redressal system. He visited the transfer station, RRR (Reduce-Reuse-Recycle) center, biogas plant and material recovery facility (MRF) and understood Indore’s decentralized and efficient waste management system. He also met Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava and discussed public participation in cleanliness and the active role of public representatives, innovative models of urban finance like green bonds and user charges. At the same time, Zero Waste Ward and Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) were visited where the processing and reuse process of liquid waste was understood in detail.
