The aircraft, operated by AIIMS Rishikesh, suffered a mechanical failure, specifically a broken tail boom, during its landing approach. Thankfully, the pilot’s quick thinking and skillful maneuvering prevented a major catastrophe.

Emergency Landing and Swift Action-The helicopter, carrying a medical team and a female devotee requiring air rescue, was forced to make an emergency landing. The pilot expertly chose a safe, level area before the main helipad, averting a potentially disastrous crash in a crowded area. The presence of mind shown by the pilot undoubtedly saved lives.

Averted Tragedy-The onboard medical team, including doctors and nurses, were unharmed thanks to the pilot’s calm response. Everyone on board was safely evacuated. This incident underscores the importance of well-trained pilots and the critical role of rapid response in emergency situations.

Investigation Underway-The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) will conduct a thorough technical investigation to determine the exact cause of the mechanical failure.
