It is important to take special care of a CNG car in summer. Strong sunlight and temperature can affect the car’s engine and CNG kit. Here are some easy tips by following which you can keep your CNG car in better condition in summer.

don’t park your car in the sun
As far as possible, avoid parking the CNG car in the sun. If there is a need to park a CNG vehicle for a long time during the day, then park it in the shade instead of parking it in the hot sun, even if you have to pay for it. Due to strong sunlight the temperature inside the car increases a lot. This increases the possibility of car fire. This can happen due to slight leakage of CNG from somewhere.

don’t fill the tank
Do not fill the CNG tank of your car even by mistake in summer. The reason for this is that CNG expands due to heat. If you have filled the tank completely and CNG expands due to heat, then there is a risk of the tank bursting due to increase in pressure on the tank. To overcome this danger, if the capacity of the CNG tank installed in your vehicle is 10-litres, then fill only eight liters of CNG in it.

regular servicing
It is necessary to get CNG vehicles serviced at regular intervals. Get the car’s engine oil, cylinder, air filter, gas system and coolant checked regularly. Their checking becomes even more important in summer. Along with this, maintain high pressure in the tyres. Tire pressure may reduce in summer, which may reduce the mileage of the car and also increase the risk of tire burst. Along with this, keep the car windows closed while using AC. With this, the AC works even better and the mileage of the car will also be saved.

hydro-testing
If you have not got hydro-testing of CNG cylinder done for the last three years, then get it done. Do not take risks with the cylinder in summer without hydro-testing it. If the cylinder does not pass hydro-testing, get it replaced.

There are more incidents of fire in summer. In such a situation, take special care of CNG leakage. Get it checked by a mechanic and if leakage is found, get it repaired immediately.
