Leadership Shuffle in MP Congress: District Presidents Set to Change from Next Month

Bhopal: In an effort to strengthen the party at the grassroots level, the Congress is now preparing to introduce a fresh team. After recent changes in the state unit, the party is now planning to replace district unit presidents. This process is expected to be completed by the end of next month. Priority will be given to appointing new presidents in districts where the same person has held the position for several years—places like Dewas, Satna, Ujjain, and Umaria. The party has decided to do this through mutual agreement and give new people a chance. More than half of the new office bearers are likely to be under 50 years of age.

Most district presidents were appointed during Kamal Nath’s tenure A majority of the current district presidents were appointed when Kamal Nath was the state party chief. The Congress has declared 2025 as the “Organisation Year,” during which it aims to build a stronger team to boost the party’s internal structure. New faces are being brought in, and various committees have been formed to handle everything from election strategy to booth-level management. Now, keeping the upcoming elections in mind, changes are being made in district units as well. Party officials say that at the national level too, new individuals are being given opportunities, and a similar approach will be followed in Madhya Pradesh, with appointments being made through consensus. These new appointments will take into account both the needs of the organization and the future strategy. National convention begins in Ahmedabad today During the two-day national convention starting Tuesday in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, the proposal to increase the role of district presidents is expected to be approved. Once that happens, changes will begin at the state level. The state party chief has already said that by the end of May, district presidents will be replaced wherever necessary. Whether it’s a district or block unit, the decision to make changes will not be based on how long someone has been in the role, but on the current condition and performance of the organization.
