Lok Sabha MP sat with MLAs, Mayor, Chairman, Commissioner, MIC members, Zone Presidents, officers at the Municipal Corporation headquarters and reviewed the work for three and a half hours continuously. He gave many instructions in public interest including including a plan for construction of new drains to solve the problem of water logging in the proposed city development plan. He listened to the views of the corporation representatives.

Raipur- Raipur Lok Sabha MP Brijmohan Agarwal reached Mahatma Gandhi Sadan at Raipur Municipal Corporation Headquarters and in the Corporation General Assembly Auditorium on the fourth floor, in the presence of Mayor Meenal Chaubey, Raipur South MLA Sunil Soni, Raipur Rural MLA Motilal Sahu, Raipur North MLA Purandar Mishra, Chairman Suryakant Rathore, Leader of Opposition Sandeep Sahu, Commissioner Vishwadeep, all MIC members, Zone Presidents, Additional Commissioners, Chief Engineers, Superintending Engineers, Deputy Commissioners, Zone Commissioners, Executive Engineers, Officers in Charge of Departments, he reviewed all the ongoing and pending schemes of Raipur Municipal Corporation for about three and a half hours and gave necessary instructions to the concerned officers. On reaching the Municipal Corporation Headquarters, Raipur Lok Sabha MP Brijmohan Agarwal and MLAs were warmly welcomed by Mayor Meenal Chaubey, Chairman Suryakant Rathore, Leader of Opposition Sandeep Sahu, Commissioner Vishwadeep by presenting bouquets. Raipur Lok Sabha MP Brijmohan Agarwal said that it is our collective responsibility to make Raipur city a beautiful city by making it problem-free. The biggest problem of Raipur city is chaotic traffic. During the festive season, the Municipal Corporation, Urban Investment Department and all the zone markets should give strict instructions to the shopkeepers who do business by keeping their goods on the main roads and if the goods are not removed from the road, then to make the traffic smooth, action should be taken by running a campaign to confiscate the goods of such shopkeepers who have occupied the roads, so that students and citizens have the easy facility to reach their work on time every day. All zones should ban the illegal sale of meat and mutton in the open and take action to remove the meat and mutton shops being set up in non-notified areas. The Zone Commissioner should inform the Zone Chairman and the Ward Councilors of the zone about all the development work plans and work in coordination with them. Take necessary action to solve the problems of the public in the zone itself in collaboration with the ward councilors. The Municipal Corporation is an autonomous institution and under the Municipal Corporation Act, the MIC and the General Assembly can take policy decisions and work in public interest. The Lok Sabha MP has asked to get all the works of cleanliness, drinking water, roads, street lights done on priority basis in the city. Brijmohan Agrawal has instructed the commissioner to make the dream of the successful Prime Minister of the Republic of India Narendra Modi of providing tap water to every household in Raipur city a reality by conducting a zone and ward wise survey of all the private housing colonies and preparing a special action plan to provide sweet river water through taps to the homes of the people of private residential areas who are dependent on tap wells for water. He has instructed to prepare a computer data base by incorporating all the necessary information including electric poles, pipelines, gardens, markets, roads, vegetable markets, ward and zone wise in the proposal of the City Development Plan, so that in future all the work of the citizens in Raipur can be done from the zone itself and they do not have to visit the corporation headquarters.
Raipur Lok Sabha MP further asked for plans for construction of drains in the proposed city development plan in Raipur Municipal Corporation, construction of new drains to solve the water logging problem, special action plan for the old settlement area famous due to temples, special action plan for the development of villages included in the corporation limits, development of women’s market in the city, plans for beautification of various ponds, identification of zone-wise available open spaces for vegetable markets on the road, maintenance of statues of great men located in the city, zone-wise cultural programs, proposing new development plans in government Nazul lands available in the corporation area, taking the services of expert architects for this. Brijmohan Agarwal has directed to provide proper benefits to the citizens by making necessary technical improvements in Amrit Mission and 24×7 project. He has asked the zone commissioners to give ward-wise work responsibilities to the zone officers to make the management of cleanliness, water, light, road in the wards of the zone strong and to do continuous monitoring. The Lok Sabha MP directed to make a work plan to build new bypass roads by conducting a survey in the interest of the city. Raipur Lok Sabha MP has asked the officials to provide the list of pending development schemes of Raipur Municipal Corporation at the government level to him and all the MLAs, so that he can meet Deputy Chief Minister of Urban Administration and Development Department Arun Sao along with the MLAs and take initiative to get the necessary approval from the state government for Raipur city in public interest. Lok Sabha MP said that he will hold the second review meeting after six months at the Municipal Corporation headquarters and will review the work after taking information about the compliance of the instructions given today.
Mayor Meenal Chaubey said that illegal construction and illegal occupation will never be tolerated in Raipur city. Zone officers should take immediate action on this. After Raipur became the capital city, it is the responsibility of the Municipal Corporation to provide easy access to drinking water to all the residents of the rapidly developing private housing colonies and for this, by collecting information of all the private housing colonies and entering the information of their water source in the computer, all the zones will have to prepare a special action plan to provide drinking water to the residents there. The Mayor has instructed to prepare a concrete action plan for the construction of drains to solve the problem of waterlogging and get the work done on priority basis. Raipur South MLA Sunil Soni suggested to implement the zone office system strongly. He suggested to take services from the expert architects of the city and prepare the drainage system, water system, street light system, pipe line system in the city and work on it. He suggested to shift the pipe lines passing through the drains outside and to get the necessary improvements done in the work of underground cabling system on a practical basis. Raipur Rural MLA Motilal Sahu suggested running a campaign to take strict action against illegal plotting and encroachment in the rural areas included in the corporation limits and asked to get the basic works of cleanliness, water, light, road done in a systematic manner in the wards of the rural assembly. Raipur North MLA Purandar Mishra asked the zone commissioners to coordinate with the ward councilors and get all the basic works of the Municipal Corporation like cleanliness, water, light, road done on priority in the wards and take necessary action to make the traffic of the city smooth. Chairman Suryakant Rathore said that the officers and public representatives in the Municipal Corporation are two sides of the same coin. Both should get the work of the public done by keeping coordination. In the Municipal Corporation Act, the general assembly is supreme in the Municipal Corporation. The officers should ensure compliance of all the resolutions taken in the corporation general assembly. He asked to get the resolution taken by the corporation general assembly regarding tax collection on open land implemented in the interest of the corporation.
Leader of Opposition Sandeep Sahu said that the visit of Lok Sabha MP Brijmohan Agarwal to the Municipal Corporation and review of the works of the corporation is a positive initiative. Leader of Opposition Sandeep Sahu suggested that the resolution taken by the Corporation MIC for tax collection from the residents of 26 villages included in the corporation limits should be implemented in public interest. Commissioner Vishwadeep said that during the review, necessary action will be taken by Raipur Municipal Corporation as per rules on all the instructions given by Raipur Lok Sabha MP Brijmohan Agarwal. MIC members Sarita Akash Dubey, Suman Ashok Pandey, Gayatri Sunil Chandrakar, Dr. Anamika Singh, Sanjana Santosh Hiyal, Mr. Manoj Verma, Deepak Jaiswal, Santosh Seema Sahu, Avtar Bharti Bagal, Mahendra Khodiyar, Bholaram Sahu, Amar Gidwani, Nandkishore Sahu, Khem Kumar Sen, Zone President Gajju Sahu, Sadhna Pramod Sahu, Murali Sharma, Amber Agarwal, Badri Prasad Gupta, Shweta Vishwakarma, Pritam Singh Thakur, Gopesh Sahu, Sachin B. were present in the meeting. Meghani gave her suggestions on city development to Raipur Lok Sabha MP Brijmohan Agarwal. The Raipur Lok Sabha MP directed the Commissioner and all the Zone Commissioners to take immediate necessary action on the suggestions of all MIC members and Zone Presidents.
