Bhopal: Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan, launched by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav to restore the old water structures, has given new life to the Ramayana era Laxman Bawdi of Ujjain and also restored its old glory. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav has praised this wonderful work. It is noteworthy that during his Ujjain visit, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav had visited Lakshmi Bawdi at Chintaman recently and participated in the Bawdi Utsav and started the renovation work by performing puja. Cleaning, painting and restoration work was also done at Laxman Bawdi located at Chintaman Temple in Ujjain. The ancient Laxman Bawdi is a very important religious and mythological place. This Bawdi is also mentioned in many ancient texts. According to public faith, its water has been considered sacred and miraculous. This Bawdi has been located on the land of Ujjain since the Ramayana era and has remained the center of local public faith. But due to lack of maintenance over time, it had lost its original form. After the work done in Laxman Bawdi under Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan, the Bawdi got a new lease of life. Due to Bhagirathi’s efforts, today this ancient Bawdi has returned to its mythological form and has been re-established as a centre of faith. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav himself reached this place during the “Bawdi Utsav”, he inspected the Bawdi, worshipped it and also gave the message of water conservation. Under the Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan in the state, lakhs of water structures have been renovated and given a new lease of life. This campaign will run till June 30. It is worth mentioning that under the Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan, ancient Bawdis have been found at many places in the state. The district administration has prioritized the cleaning work with public participation for their conservation. On the instructions of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, the Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan was started across the state on March 30, Gudi Padwa New Year Pratipada.
