Kumbh Mela 2027: State Government Accelerates Preparations, DGP Directs Strong Planning

 Uttarakhand: The state government has ramped up preparations for the Kumbh Mela 2027. As part of these efforts, the police department has been instructed to create a solid action plan. DGP Deepam Seth held a meeting with police officials to review security arrangements for the grand event. During the discussion, the Director General of Police (DGP) emphasized the need for a well-structured security plan with regular reviews to ensure a safe, smooth, and well-organized experience for devotees. He assured that Uttarakhand Police is fully committed to providing the best security and facilities during the Kumbh Mela and will leverage modern technology and advanced management techniques to achieve this. He further stated that the police force will perform its duty with complete dedication and sensitivity. The SSP of Haridwar presented a detailed report on past Kumbh Melas, highlighting key aspects such as security measures, infrastructure projects, and other critical arrangements.

Key Instructions Issued for Kumbh Mela 2027

✅ Enhanced Surveillance: The entire fair area will be closely monitored with an increased number of CCTV cameras, drones, and modern surveillance tools.
✅ Strengthening Security: Additional Central Security Forces will be requested to ensure foolproof security.
✅ Well-equipped Control Room: The Mela Control Room will be equipped with all necessary resources, and regular coordination with neighboring states will be maintained for efficient information sharing.
✅ Infrastructure Planning: Essential construction work will be assessed in advance to enhance the safety and effectiveness of the arrangements.
✅ Clear Markings & Evacuation Plans: Entry and exit points at all bathing ghats will be clearly marked, and a detailed emergency evacuation plan will be put in place.
✅ Disaster Preparedness: The police force will receive specialized swimming and disaster management training to handle any emergencies.
✅ Dedicated Core Team Formation: A core team will be established well in advance. A list of potential members will be prepared to ensure timely deployment in Haridwar.
