
IIFA Awards 2025 : Kiran Rao’s film “Laapata Ladies” has taken the 2025 International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards by storm, winning a total of 10 awards, including Best Film and Best Director. This Indian film, which has also been selected for the Oscars, triumphed in all major categories, showcasing its exceptional storytelling and direction.
A Night to Remember
Kiran Rao expressed her joy, stating, “Winning an award for a film like ‘Laapata Ladies’ is a rare privilege. It was a fantastic night. Creating such a film is a unique experience, and there is no greater joy than seeing people watch our film repeatedly.” Her heartfelt words reflect the dedication and passion that went into making this film. Kartik Aaryan received the Best Actor award for his role in “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.” He shared his journey, saying, “The ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ series has been filled with challenges for me. When I was cast for ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2,’ there were many questions about my ability to carry the film. The same situation arose during ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ as well.” His perseverance and talent have clearly paid off.
Nitanshi Goel, who won the Best Actress award for her leading role, was emotional as she reflected on her childhood dreams of attending the IIFA Awards. “Being part of an Aamir Khan Productions film is like a dream for any artist. It’s a huge honor for me. People are showing so much love for my character, Phool,” she said. Goel encouraged aspiring artists to dream big, stating, “If I can stand here, so can you. Dream big; they do come true.” The film also celebrated its supporting cast, with Ravi Kishan and Pratibha Ranta winning Best Supporting Actor and Best Debut Actress, respectively. “Laapata Ladies” excelled in technical categories as well, with Biplab Goswami winning for Best Story, Sneha Desai for Best Screenplay, and Jabeen Merchant for Best Editing.
Musical Achievements
In the music category, Prashant Pandey was awarded Best Lyricist for the song “Sajni,” while Ram Sampat took home the award for Best Music Composer. Janaki Bodhiwala won Best Supporting Actress for her role in “Shaitaan,” and Raghav Juyal was recognized as Best Villain for his performance in “Kill.” In the debut categories, Kunal Khemu was awarded Best Debut Director for “Margaon Express,” and Lakshya Lalwani received Best Debut Actor for “Kill.” The award for Best Adapted Screenplay went to the writers of “Merry Christmas,” including Shri Ram Raghavan, Arijit Biswas, Pooja Surti, and Anukriti Pandey.
The award for Best Dialogue was given to Arjun Dhawan, Aditya Dhar, Aditya Suhas Jambhale, and Monal Thakur for “Article 370.” In technical categories, Rafe Mahmood won Best Cinematography for “Kill,” while Subhash Sahu, Boloy Kumar Doloi, and Rahul Karpe received accolades for Best Sound Design. Best Choreography went to Bosco-Ceasar for the song “Tauba Tauba” from Vicky Kaushal’s film “Bad News,” and Red Chillies VFX won Best Visual Effects for “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.”
