 Kedarnath Yatra: Landslide Blocks Path, Then Reopens

A temporary roadblock and swift recovery-On July 29th, evening, a sudden landslide near Sonprayag-Gaurikund disrupted the pilgrimage route to Kedarnath. For about a kilometer and a half, boulders and debris completely blocked the path. Pilgrims returning from the holy shrine were temporarily halted, but thankfully, swift action ensured their safety via alternative routes.

Emergency Response: A Collaborative Effort-The local administration sprang into action. Police, SDRF (State Disaster Response Force), and NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) teams worked tirelessly on-site. Their coordinated efforts ensured the safe evacuation of all stranded pilgrims. The teams remained present until every traveler was safely escorted to a secure location.

Road Reopens, Pilgrims Resume Journey-Thanks to the dedicated efforts of the authorities, the blocked path was cleared efficiently. The route has now reopened, bringing much-needed relief to pilgrims traveling to and from Kedarnath. By Thursday morning, approximately 950 pilgrims were safely relocated, adding to the 2179 already assisted in previous operations. The administration continues to monitor the situation closely, ensuring the safety and smooth passage of all devotees.
