Kedarnath By-Election: Voting on November 20, Candidates from BJP and Congress in the Race
Today marks the last day of campaigning for the by-election in the Kedarnath Assembly seat in Uttarakhand. The campaign will officially come to an end today, with voting scheduled for November 20 and vote counting set for November 23. The election department and administration have made all necessary preparations to ensure a smooth and peaceful voting process.In this by-election, the candidates include Asha Nautiyal from the BJP, Manoj Rawat from the Congress, Dr. Ashutosh Bhandari from the Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (UKD), and independents Tribhuvan Chauhan, RP Singh, and Pradeep Rohan Rudiya. All candidates have been actively campaigning for the past 17 days, and campaigning will cease at 5 PM today.
It’s important to note that the seat became vacant following the passing of MLA Shailarani Rawat on July 9 of this year. Assistant District Election Officer Dheeraj Kumar reported that a total of 90,875 voters will exercise their right to vote in the Kedarnath by-election. 173 polling booths have been set up for the voting process. Polling parties will leave for remote locations like Gaundar, Ransi, and Chilound on November 18, while the remaining parties will depart on November 19. He assured that all arrangements have been made for peaceful voting.The Election Commission of India issued the notification for the by-election on October 15. During the nomination process from October 22 to 29, a total of six candidates submitted their nominations.
