Kanker District Administration Rescues 30 Laborers from Tamil Nadu
In a remarkable act of compassion and swift action, the district administration of Kanker facilitated the release of 30 bonded laborers from Tamil Nadu. These laborers, hailing from various districts including Kanker, Narayanpur, and Kondagaon, had been subjected to bonded labor in brick kilns in Krishnagiri district, Tamil Nadu, for the past three months.
Upon receiving a complaint about the exploitation of laborers, Collector Abhijit Singh took immediate and decisive action. Under his direction, a rescue team was swiftly formed to bring these laborers back to their homes in Kanker. The ordeal they faced, forced to work without wages in harsh conditions, came to an end as they were safely brought back on April 7th.
The district administration, led by Collector Singh, ensured that not only were these laborers freed but also that their families received support. A total of 30 laborers, including 14 from Kanker, 10 from Narayanpur, and 6 from Kondagaon, were liberated from bonded labor, bringing an end to their suffering. This noble effort was supported by the diligent work of labor inspectors T.P. Tiwari and Vivek Saw, who played a crucial role in facilitating the release of these laborers.
This act exemplifies the commitment of the district administration to uphold the rights and dignity of every individual, ensuring that justice prevails even in the face of adversity. The release of these bonded laborers marks a significant step towards eradicating such exploitative practices and reaffirms the administration’s dedication to the welfare of its people.
