Journalist Mukesh Chandrakar murder case: Four accused including mastermind arrested, charge sheet filed along with witnesses
District – Bijapur Date 18/03/2025 SIT Investigation/Proceedings: Charge sheet presented to the Hon’ble Court against the four accused involved in the murder of journalist colleague Mukesh Chandrakar. The plan to murder journalist Mukesh Chandrakar was made by the mastermind of the incident Suresh Chandrakar. The news made by accused contractor Suresh Chandrakar and his associates regarding irregularities in the construction work of Nelasnar- Mirtur-Gangalur road became the main reason for the murder. Contractor Suresh Chandrakar along with his two brothers and supervisor had planned the murder. To mislead the police, the accused had thrown the body in a septic tank after the murder and got it floored. The police promptly arrested all the four accused within 72 hours. The forensic team completed the investigation in the case on the basis of scientific and technical evidence. 72 witnesses were included in the witness list of the case. Physical and digital evidence were collected while investigating the case in detail.
During the investigation of the case, advanced forensic investigation and DNA testing were conducted on the exhibits seized from the crime scene and the accused.
Crime scene recreation was done as per the evidence found from the crime scene, statements of witnesses and interrogation of the accused. In this case, the SIT presented the charge sheet of 1241 along with the case diary before the Hon’ble Court today on 18/03/2025. SIT team in-charge Mayank Gurjar, Additional Superintendent of Police, Bijapur informed that during the investigation by the SIT team, if evidence is found against the four accused for committing the crime under sections 103 (1), 238 (a), 61 (2) (a), 239, 249, 3 (5) of the BNS, then a charge sheet will be presented and a strong plea will be made in the Hon’ble Court to give maximum punishment to the accused for this inhuman act.
