Irfan Pathan on Preity Zinta's Passionate Support for Punjab Kings: 'Haarne Pe Bahut Pareshan Ho Jaati Hai'

Irfan Pathan, the former Indian all-rounder, spoke on Star Sports about Preity Zinta’s deep involvement with Punjab Kings, the IPL team she co-owns. He described Zinta, also a Bollywood actress, as someone who is very dedicated to the team’s success and gets quite emotional when they lose. However, despite feeling upset about defeats, she knows how to manage her emotions.

Pathan highlighted that Zinta, being a successful actress, understands that just as every movie isn’t a blockbuster, every cricket match can’t be a win. This perspective helps her maintain a calm demeanor, though there have been a few times when she’s shown disappointment after a defeat. Pathan noted that in the three years he played for Punjab Kings, he only saw Zinta expressing her disappointment 2 or 3 times after more than 40 matches.

Despite her emotional involvement, Zinta maintains professionalism and supports the team even in tough times. Pathan mentioned a unique memory when Zinta personally made parathas for the team in South Africa after a significant victory against Chennai Super Kings. This act of cooking nearly 40 parathas by hand for the entire team shows her hands-on approach to managing the team and her dedication to celebrating their successes.

The conversation took place during Punjab Kings’ thrilling run chase against Kolkata Knight Riders, where Jonny Bairstow’s century and Shashank Singh’s batting led the team to a record-breaking successful run chase in IPL and T20 cricket history. Despite the loss, Kolkata Knight Riders also made an impressive start, with Phil Salt and Sunil Narine providing explosive performances, demonstrating the excitement and unpredictability of T20 cricket.
