IPL 2025:The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are expected to officially announce that Rishabh Pant will be their captain on Monday. Pant, who previously led the Delhi Capitals, had a strong start with that team last year. This talented young wicketkeeper-batsman has also secured a place in Team India’s squad for the Champions Trophy, which kicks off in February.
Even though Pant had a promising start with Delhi Capitals last year, he’s no longer with that team. For the upcoming IPL season, the Lucknow Super Giants have brought him on board for a whopping ₹27 crore. There have been whispers that the team management was considering giving him the captaincy, and sources say that the discussions between Rishabh Pant and team owner Sanjiv Goenka about his leadership role have been wrapped up.
The Lucknow Super Giants joined the IPL in 2022 and have shown solid performance, making it to the playoffs in their first two seasons. However, they stumbled last year and were knocked out during the league stage. Pant was once a contender to lead India’s Test team but faced a major setback when he was seriously injured in a car accident on December 30, 2022. His injuries kept him off the cricket field for nearly a year. Now, after making a strong recovery, the Indian wicketkeeper-batsman is back and ready to take on new challenges with the Lucknow Super Giants!
