IPL 2025: KKR’s strong win created a stir in the playoff race, know who is at the forefront

The chase for the IPL 2025 playoffs is heating up! Each game is shaking things up, and the fight to be in the top four is getting super exciting. On Tuesday, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) spiced things up by beating the Delhi Capitals (DC), making the playoff race even more thrilling. In match number 48 of the season, KKR managed to beat Delhi Capitals by 14 runs, keeping their playoff dreams alive. The match was played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, where KKR scored a solid 204/9 while batting first. In response, Delhi could only manage 190/9.
Here’s how the teams are looking:
- Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB): They’ve had a fantastic run so far! With 7 wins out of 10 matches, they’re at the top with 14 points. Their recent win over Delhi Capitals by 6 wickets saw Kohli score 51 runs and Krunal Pandya playing a match-winning knock of 73 not out. This win has almost guaranteed their spot in the playoffs.
- Mumbai Indians (MI): They’ve been playing well recently. They now need to win just 2 of their remaining 4 matches to confirm a spot in the playoffs. With a strong net run rate, Hardik’s team is in a good position.
- Gujarat Titans (GT): They’ve been consistent this season. With 6 wins in 9 matches, they need just 2 more victories out of their next 5 games to book a place in the playoffs. Their positive net run rate also gives them an edge.
- Delhi Capitals (DC): They recently lost to KKR, which has slightly hurt their playoff chances. They still need to win 2 of their remaining 4 matches to stay in the race. However, their net run rate is lower than the other top teams, so they’ll need to focus on winning big.
- Punjab Kings (PBKS): They’ve done pretty well this season. To secure a playoff spot, they need to win at least 3 of their remaining 5 matches. Their positive net run rate could help them out.
- Lucknow Super Giants (LSG): They need to win at least 3 of their last 4 matches to stay in playoff contention. Their negative net run rate means they’ll also need to focus on winning by good margins.
- Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR): With their recent win over Delhi Capitals on April 29, KKR has kept their playoff hopes alive. To stay in the race, they need to win at least 3 of their 4 remaining matches. Their positive net run rate gives them a small advantage.
- Rajasthan Royals (RR): They’re now in a must-win situation. They have to win all of their remaining 4 matches to keep their playoff hopes alive. With a negative net run rate, they’ll also have to focus on winning by big margins.
- Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH): They need to win all 5 of their remaining matches if they want to make it to the playoffs. Their net run rate is quite poor, so they’ll need convincing wins to have a realistic chance.
- Chennai Super Kings (CSK): Their chances of making it to the playoffs are almost over. They need to win all 5 of their upcoming games and also hope that other match results go in their favor. Their negative net run rate only adds to the challenge.
So, it’s all to play for! Who do you think will make it to the playoffs?
