International News : Red alert after record heat and unpredictable weather in 2023

The World Meteorological Organization has issued a red alert regarding global warming. In its recent report, the global organization has said that efforts to change the world trend are proving inadequate. The report also cites unprecedented increases in greenhouse gases, land and water temperatures, and melting of glaciers and sea ice in the year 2023.
The World Meteorological Organization has released the ‘State of the Global Climate’ report on Tuesday. It expresses concern that the goals of preventing and reversing unexpected changes in climate are under threat. Not only this, the temperature of the earth is increasing rapidly. The World Meteorological Organization has said the world must come together to limit planetary temperature increases to 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.7 degrees Fahrenheit) above pre-industrial levels.
Guterres expressed concern
The increase in temperature due to climate change can be understood from the fact that WMO Secretary General Celeste Saulo has said that the world has never been so close to the 1.5 degrees Celsius set in the Paris Agreement on climate change. At the same time, the European Union’s Copernicus Climate Service said calendar year 2023 was just below 1.5 degrees Celsius at 1.48 Celsius (2.66 Fahrenheit), but this year’s record warm start pushed the 12-month average beyond that level.
United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres has also expressed concern regarding this report. He said that Earth is issuing a distress call. The latest figures from the global climate report show the planet on its last legs. At the same time, University of Michigan School Dean Jonathan Overpeck has also expressed concern over this report. He said that this report is worrying. Apart from all the bad news, what worries me most is that the planet is now in the melting stage.
