International news : Fiji shaken by strong earthquake, earth trembled with intensity of 6.4

Strong earthquake tremors were felt in Fiji on Wednesday morning. The earthquake hit Suva and its impact was far reaching. Its intensity was measured at 6.4 on the Richter scale. According to the National Center for Seismology, the earthquake was recorded at 6.58 am. At present there is no information about any damage.

Why do earthquakes occur?
There are 7 plates inside the Earth, which keep rotating continuously. The zone where these plates collide is called fault line. The corners of the plates bend due to repeated collisions. When too much pressure builds up, the plates start breaking. The energy below finds a way out and after the disturbance an earthquake occurs.
