International news: Conspiracy hatched for illegal smuggling of nuclear material from Myanmar

Serious charges have been framed in America against a leader of the Japanese criminal organization Yakuza. Prosecutors in the US court have accused Yakuza leader Takeshi Ebisawa of conspiring to smuggle nuclear materials. It is reported that Ebisawa conspired to transport uranium and weapons-grade plutonium from Myanmar to other countries. Charges in this case were framed before the court on Wednesday.

Officials say that they got evidence against Takeshi Ebisawa in this case when some agents of America’s Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), posing as drug and arms smugglers, met him (Ebisawa) and some of his associates in Thailand. Here the leader of the Japanese Yakuza showed samples of nuclear material to the DEA agents.

According to a press release issued by the US Justice Ministry, the US conducted an operation with Thai authorities to take possession of these samples. Later these samples were captured by the American enforcement agency. America’s Nuclear Forensic Lab has confirmed that these samples contain uranium and plutonium suitable for use in weapons.
