International news: America approves sale of MQ-9B drones to India

Last week, America approved the sale of its modern MQ-9B drones to India. Since the signing of this agreement, it is believed that India’s strength will increase rapidly in the border areas and maritime areas adjacent to China and Pakistan. “We think the sale of these drones will provide India with the ability to enhance maritime security and maritime domain awareness,” US State Department deputy spokesperson Vedant Patel said while addressing a press conference on Monday. He said that with this agreement, India will get direct ownership of these aircraft and we will continue to increase cooperation with our Indian partners for this.

It is noteworthy that America approved the sale of 31 armed MQ-9B Predator Long Endurance drones to India at an estimated cost of $ 3.99 (approximately Rs 33 thousand crore). These drones will increase the surveillance and reconnaissance patrol capability of sea routes and India’s ability to deal with future threats. This drone deal was announced during the historic state visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in June 2023.
