Instructions given to ensure accuracy and transparency of voter list
Raipur. Chhattisgarh State Election Commission held a review meeting of Deputy District Election Officers of all the districts of the state through video conferencing. In this meeting held under the chairmanship of Dr. Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure, Secretary, State Election Commission, the preparations for preparation/revision of electoral rolls under the general elections of urban bodies and three-tier panchayats 2024-25 were reviewed.
The meeting mainly discussed the preparation of elections, the process of updating and revising the electoral roll. All the officers were directed to correct and update the electoral roll in each district so that the name of every eligible citizen can be included in the electoral roll. The names of eligible new voters should be added and the names of voters who have been transferred or died should be removed. Till now, a total of 22 thousand 182 applications have been received for adding names in the urban bodies of all the districts of the state, 1 thousand 182 for amendment and 4 thousand 779 for deletion.
It was asked to check the necessary documents to ensure the identity of the voters. For this, photo identity card, Aadhar card and other government certificates should be verified so that the voter list can be made error-free and completely correct. Preliminary publication of electoral rolls has been done for the elections of urban bodies and panchayats. In this regard, according to the program released by the Commission, it was directed to resolve the claims and objections within the stipulated time.
In the review meeting, information was taken from all the sub-district election officers about the voter awareness campaign being run in their district and they were asked to do extensive publicity through various mediums.
All the sub-district election officers were instructed to ensure the accuracy and transparency of the voter list so that all eligible citizens can get the right to vote in the upcoming elections. On this occasion, Deputy Secretary Dr. Neha Kapoor and Mr. Alok Srivastava along with the concerned officers and employees were present.
