Innovative initiative of the commissioner to increase the falling ground water level in the capital, agreed to build 50-50 rain water harvesting pits

Raipur – On the positive initiative of Raipur Municipal Corporation Commissioner Abinash Mishra, CREDAI officials and all its member builders have agreed to build at least 50-50 rain water harvesting pits in their respective township areas. This will help in increasing the continuously falling ground water level in the city by maintaining it and will solve the water crisis in the city. This is the first time when all CREDAI officials and its member builders have come forward and agreed to solve the deepening water crisis in the city. By making rain water harvesting pits in small sectors with innovative technology, up to 2 lakh liters of rain water can be easily conserved. Additional Commissioner of the corporation US was present in the meeting of CREDAI officials. Agrawal, Superintending Engineer Rajesh Sharma, City Investor Nishikant Verma, Executive Engineer Anshul Sharma, Assistant Engineer Nitish Jha, and other related officers of the corporation were present.

Today, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Abinash Mishra held a meeting of CREDAI officials in the third floor hall of the Municipal Corporation Headquarters building Mahatma Gandhi Sadan. In which deep concern was expressed over the continuously falling groundwater level in the city and the Commissioner suggested to come forward and participate in its solution under the public welfare intention of the Urban Administration and Development Department of the State Government and the guidance of Raipur District Administration. During the discussion in the meeting with the Commissioner, all the builders and CREDAI officials agreed to immediately construct 50-50 rain water harvesting pits with innovative technology in their respective townships. The Commissioner said that this will help in resolving the water crisis in the city during summer along with recharging of bores and increasing the groundwater level. It was agreed in the meeting that the builders and CREDAI officials will first get the Rain Water Harvesting Pits installed with the help of hydrologists at Saddu Mowa, Daldal Seoni and other such places in the city where the ground water level is continuously falling. This will help in increasing the ground water level in those areas soon.
CREDAI officials assured in the meeting that they will discuss and agree with those builders who are not members of CREDAI to construct maximum number of Rain Water Harvesting Pits in their townships and will connect them with the campaign in the interest of the city. It was agreed that soon 2000 Rain Water Harvesting Pits should be constructed in Raipur city with the new method of innovative technology in the interest of the city. In this regard, on the direction of the Commissioner, Hydrologist Dr. K. Panigrahi informed the CREDAI officials about the new method of innovative technology.
