IND vs WI: India Sets New Record in Women’s T20 Cricket On Thursday, India made history by achieving their highest score ever in women’s T20 cricket. They scored 217 runs for 4 wickets against the West Indies in the third T20 match held at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Richa Ghosh loves to play aggressively, no matter where she bats, and challenging situations bring out the best in her. Smriti Mandhana scored 77 runs off 47 balls, while Richa Ghosh contributed 54 runs off just 21 balls

West Indies Bowlers Struggled The conditions at DY Patil Stadium were tough for the West Indies bowlers. Batting at number five, Ghosh made life difficult for them and became one of the fastest players to score a half-century in women’s T20 internationals, reaching her fifty in just 18 balls. With over 47,000 fans in attendance, Richa helped India reach 217 runs, marking their highest score in this format. This impressive performance led the Indian women’s team to a 60-run victory, clinching the series 2-1 After such a fantastic win, the West Indies’ decision to bowl first backfired, as none of their bowlers could make a significant impact. Despite Uma Chhetri getting out early, India managed to stabilize their innings with a 98-run partnership** between stand-in captain Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues. Mandhana set the tone by scoring 13 runs in the third over and 20 runs in the fourth.

During her third consecutive half-century, Mandhana not only made batting look easy but also set a record for the most runs scored by an Indian woman in a bilateral T20I series, totaling 193 runs. Taking advantage of the West Indies’ poor bowling and fielding, Mandhana also became the highest run-scorer in women’s T20Is in a calendar year, amassing 763 runs. However, the heavy dew made it challenging for the Indian bowlers. Still, left-arm spinner Radha Yadav turned the tide by taking 4 wickets for just 29 runs, dousing the West Indies’ hopes. While Kiana Joseph was dismissed early, Radha broke a 37-run partnership between Deandra Dottin and Hayley Matthews. As the pressure mounted, the West Indies fell further behind, eventually losing the match despite Chinelle Henry’s quick 43 runs off 16 balls
