India is first in the world in animal census
Bhopal. India is among the leading countries in the world in animal husbandry and dairy sector. While India ranks first in the world in animal census, India also produces the highest amount of milk in the world. 25% of the world’s gross milk production takes place in India. Animal husbandry and dairy sector contributes 30% to agricultural production in India. Madhya Pradesh is leading in India in other schemes including Kisan Credit Card (Animal Husbandry). Next month, the 21st Animal Census is going to start in Madhya Pradesh and all over India. This time the entire work of data collection in animal census will be done online.
This information was given today in the state level workshop organized in the auditorium of Directorate, Veterinary and Dairy regarding the preparations for the 21st Animal Census 2024 in the state. In the workshop, an online message was given by Mrs. Alka Upadhyay, Secretary, Department of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy, Government of India, regarding the preparations for Animal Census 2024. The workshop was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by Director Animal Husbandry and Dairy Mr. P.S. Patel. Veterinary officers and other concerned from all over the state were present in the workshop.
It was told in the workshop that the 21st animal census is to be done by going door to door in 1 crore 80 lakh families of 55 districts of Madhya Pradesh. This time when the computers will count the animals in the animal census, they will directly fill the data obtained in the animal census software through their tab. This time details of the breeds of animals will also be given in the census. For this, when they scan the photo of the animals, the information about the breed of the animals will be available through the software.
5264 unit villages and 728 urban wards have been determined for animal census in the entire state. For animal census, one computer has been appointed for every 3000 families in rural areas and one computer for every 4000 families in urban areas. Supervisors have been appointed over them. A total of 5558 computers have been appointed, of which 4141 are in rural areas and 1417 in urban areas. A total of 970 supervisors have been appointed, of which 828 are in rural areas and 142 in urban areas.
This workshop was organized by the Ministry of Animal Husbandry and Dairy, Government of India with the aim of formulating and implementing an effective strategy for the 21st Livestock Census in Madhya Pradesh. In the workshop, detailed sessions on the working system and guidelines for livestock census, training on mobile application and dashboard software were organized as well as the questions and problems of the participants were resolved.
