India gets bronze medal, shooter Manu Bhaker creates history
Haryana shooter Manu Bhaker has created history in the Olympics. Bhaker won a bronze medal for India in the mixed team 10m air pistol final on Tuesday with Ambala’s Sarabjot Singh. As soon as Manu and Sarabjit won the bronze medal, the whole of Haryana was immersed in celebration. India has got two medals in the Olympics so far, both of which have been won by players from Haryana.
Shooter Manu Bhaker is pursuing a Post Graduate Diploma in Mass Communication (PGDMC) course from DAV College. International Shooting Sports Federation judge and college shooting coach Dr. Amanendra Mann expressed happiness and said that Manu Bhaker had promised me before going to Paris that this time she will return to the country only after winning an Olympic medal. Said that Manu fulfilled her promise.
Manu Bhaker’s pistol malfunctioned while playing in the Tokyo Olympics in the year 2021. Due to this, she could not aim for 20 minutes. Even after the pistol was repaired, Manu was able to shoot only 14 shots and was out of the final race. She was so disappointed at not winning a medal in the Tokyo Olympics that she decided to quit shooting after returning to the country. But this time Manu created history.
