Raipur, 15 August 2025: Independence Day was celebrated with great gaiety and dignity at the Police Parade Ground in the capital Raipur. Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai hoisted the flag at 9 am and took the salute of the parade. The Chief Minister also read out his message to the people of the state. In the ceremony, 17 platoons mesmerized the audience by performing a grand march past. This march past was led by Indian Police Service officer Ishu Agarwal. This time the police contingent of Odisha state participated in the parade in the invited category. Siddharth Singh Chauhan was the 2IC of the parade. The parade included BSF, CRPF, ITBP, CISF, SSB, Chhattisgarh Armed Forces (men-women), Chhattisgarh Police, Jail Police, Nagar Sena (men-women), NCC (boys-girls), band platoon, cavalry and women bagpiper band. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai honoured the best teams in the Independence Day parade. In the Central Forces category, the contingent of the Border Security Force got the first place. The Central Reserve Police Force got the second place and the Odisha Police team got the third place. In the State Forces category, the Chhattisgarh Armed Force (Men) got the first place. The Chhattisgarh Armed Police Force (Women) got the second place and the women’s team of the City Army got the third place. In the NCC Junior category, the first prize was won by the (boys’ team) and the second prize was won by the girls’ team.

The horse show of the cavalry was the centre of attraction- The horse show of the cavalry was also the centre of attraction in the Independence Day celebrations. The cavalry team of the third battalion Amleswar gave exciting presentations like flag march, tent pegging, nezabandi show, jumping and gallop round. Head constable Lokeshwar Sidar did a flag march on horse Rudra. Constable Ajay Yadav did a standing salute on horse Aabha. In tent pegging, horse Ganga, Ashvatthama, Sarangi and Shakti gave excellent performances. Horses Yuvraj, Avni, Dhanush, Juhi and Ojas showed their prowess in show jumping and the people present welcomed the horse team with thunderous applause.

Women bagpiper band gave attractive performance- The first women bagpiper band of the state, led by constable Sonbati Thakur, gave an attractive performance in the Independence Day celebrations. This bagpiper band of 35 members of 20th Bharat Raksha Vahini Chhattisgarh Armed Force played tunes like India Gate, Kesariya Bana, Harsh Main, Shanti Sena and Pulkit Himalaya in the quick march. The band also played Navarangi and Tarshpe Reel, Drum Call in the slow march. 23 members of the band captivated the people present by playing enchanting tunes on instruments like ceremonium mess band, bass, tenor, side drum and bagpiper in their hands. This bagpiper women band has received rigorous training for 6 months in 2022 at ITBP’s BTC Manu in Panchkula, Haryana. This bagpiper band secured third position in the 25th All India Police Band Competition at Dimapur Nagaland in 2024. The competition was held at Dimapur Training Centre of Assam Rifles.
