If we want to end Maoist cancer, we need to attack its root – Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai
The Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 137 development works worth Rs 205 crore in Sukma district

Raipur 13 January 2025: Maoism is like a cancer. If cancer is to be eradicated, it is necessary to attack its root. Maoists had stuck like leeches in some areas of Bastar and were exploiting the local people by intimidating them. These places were their safest hideouts. We decided to enter the den of the Maoists and attack them. With the indomitable courage of our security forces, we fought these Maoists and defeated them. In the last one year, our security forces have killed more than 230 Maoists in various encounters. Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai said this while addressing the function organized on the occasion of inauguration and foundation stone laying of development works at the mini stadium in Sukma district.
Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai said that this is the holy land on which the holy feet of Lord Ram touched. I respectfully salute that land. Maoist violence had thrown not only Bastar division but also Sukma district into the fire of violence. Due to this, the development of Sukma district was badly affected. In one year, our government has taken many important decisions for the development of Sukma district and has implemented them rapidly. The Chief Minister said that in this series, today we have inaugurated and done Bhoomi Pujan of 137 works worth Rs 205 crore here. These works include inauguration of 82 works worth Rs 39 crore and Bhoomi Pujan of 55 works worth Rs 166 crore. The most important work among these works is the Bhoomi Pujan of water supply scheme in Sukma Nagarpalika at a cost of Rs 83 crore. Along with this, we also did Bhoomi Pujan for the construction of Keralapal to Pongabhejji road with an amount of Rs 14 crore. He said that to improve the sports infrastructure in Sukma, we are going to build a sports complex at a cost of Rs 11 crore. We have also done Bhoomi Pujan for this today.
Chief Minister Sai said that under a well-planned strategy, we expanded the camps in the Maoist-affected areas and expanded the security network. Now the Maoists have been confined to a very limited area and are in panic. Due to this, they are doing cowardly acts. The soldiers who were martyred in the IED blast incident on the convoy of our soldiers by the Maoists were the sons of the soil of Bastar. The Chief Minister said that today on this land of Sukma, we all again take a pledge that we will root out Maoism. We will take revenge for the martyrdom of our martyred soldiers.
Chief Minister Sai said that we are working for development along with providing security to the people through the camps. For this, we started the Niyyad Nella Nar Yojana for the development of villages falling within the radius of five km of the camp, through which all basic facilities are being made available in these rural areas.
The Maoists who use the best weapons and new communication equipment for themselves, have kept the rural areas in such a state of terror that the people here stay away from television.
The village of the Maoist commander was backward in terms of development for many years. People had not seen electricity, had not seen television. Now the Purvarti village is illuminated by solar lights. People saw Doordarshan for the first time after 78 years of independence. This was like a miracle for the people. Electricity has come to village Salatong after 78 years. With the arrival of electricity, the light of development has also spread rapidly here. Now the children here will be able to study well. They will be able to join the mainstream of development. Hakkum Mail is being run here to provide relief to the people in transportation. Due to these buses, the life of the people has become easier. It has become easier to reach health centers. Through this scheme, for the first time, people’s Aadhar cards, Ayushman cards and Kisan Credit Cards were made.
