ICC gives 'List-A' status to America's Major League Cricket
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has granted official ‘List-A’ status to the Major League Cricket (MLC) tournament played in T20 format in the US. The second season of the MLC will start from July 5 this year. Its aim is to promote its popularity in America, one of the biggest markets of the game. With this move of the ICC, MLC got the status of official T20 league and America’s first world-class domestic tournament.
MLC will be played after T20 World Cup
The US is also the co-host of the T20 World Cup to be played from June 1 to June 29 and the MLC will start within a week of the end of the World Cup. According to a release issued from the MLC – now every century, half-century, run-out, win, loss and championship will be recorded as official career statistics in the internationally recognized format of the game.
Runs scored in the tournament will be recorded as official statistics
Getting official status for MLC means that it will provide an opportunity for international recognition to local players of America and rising stars of the game. This will promote the development of domestic talent in the country. According to this statement- MLC is getting List A status after the success of the initial season. This shows our unwavering dedication towards organizing top level cricket in America.
