Heat took the lives of 51 people, mercury in the state is close to 49

Lucknow.  The entire state is going through a period of severe heat. 31 people died on Wednesday due to extreme heat and heat wave in Bundelkhand. Eight people died in Mahoba, seven in Hamirpur, six in Chitrakoot, five in Fatehpur, three in Banda and two in Jalaun. Most of these people had gone out for some work and fell unconscious on the way. They died before reaching the hospital. Two people died in Nanpara and Kaiserganj tehsil area due to heat wave in Bahraich. Similarly, four people including a sub-inspector died in Prayagraj. An elderly resident of Meerut died due to heat wave in Greater Noida. A woman died in Ballia. Apart from this, six people died in Varanasi, three in Mirzapur, one each in Azamgarh, Jaunpur and Sonbhadra. It is suspected that all these people have died due to heat stroke, however, the actual cause of death will be known only after the post-mortem.

The mercury is close to 49 in Prayagraj

Most parts of Uttar Pradesh were in the grip of a severe heat wave on Wednesday. In the areas where there was no heat wave, the hot air was giving the feeling of heat wave. On Wednesday, the maximum temperature of Prayagraj reached 48.8 degrees, while Kanpur was the second hottest city with 48.4 degrees. According to Atul Kumar Singh, senior meteorologist of the Regional Meteorological Center, the maximum temperature on Wednesday was 7 degrees above normal amid the scorching heat. While the night temperature was also recorded above 6 degrees.

Prayagraj equaled 1979

According to the data of the Meteorological Department, on June 6, 1979, 48.8 degrees Celsius mercury was recorded in Prayagraj. The maximum temperature on Wednesday has equaled this. As far as the highest temperature of May so far is concerned, the mercury was 48.4 degrees on May 30, 1994. According to the meteorologist, Prayagraj has become so hot for the first time this season, and the record of so much heat in May has also been broken.

Another record in Jhansi

For two consecutive days, the day temperature in Jhansi was making records. On Wednesday, the night temperature reached 34.5 degrees. This is the third time that the night has been so hot in Jhansi. Earlier, the temperature had reached 34.9 on May 8, 1972 and 34.6 on May 26, 2912.
