Hareli festival in Chief Minister’s residence: A unique glimpse of tradition and progress seen

Attractive exhibition of traditional-modern agricultural equipment, folk costumes

Chief Minister appreciated, said- Hareli is a festival of respect for nature

Raipur, 24 July 2025: Hareli Tihar, a symbol of cultural identity and agricultural traditions of Chhattisgarh, was celebrated this year with great joy and dignity in the residence premises of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai. On this occasion, the coordination of the rich heritage of the state, traditional agricultural equipment, folk costumes, food and modern agricultural techniques came out as a wonderful sight. The venue was decorated in traditional Chhattisgarhi color and look, where guests, artists and common people dressed in rural attire were seen immersed in folk culture. During Hareli festival, traditional and modern agricultural equipment was displayed at the Chief Minister’s residence. Chief Minister Sai visited the exhibition site and observed various traditional equipment and items. Historical agricultural equipment like Katha, Khumri, Jhampi, Kansi Dori and Tutari were displayed in the exhibition. Exhibition of modern agricultural equipment organized by the Agriculture Department, in which equipment like plough, hoe, spade, rotavator, seed drill, power tiller and sprayer were displayed. ‘Katha’ is the traditional measure with which paddy was weighed in old times; ‘Khumri’ is a shade providing cap made of bamboo and cowrie shells; ‘Jhampi’ is a box made of bamboo to keep items used in marriage; ‘Kansi ki Dori’ is used in weaving cots and ‘Tutari’ is used in handling animals. Chief Minister Sai also said that Hareli Tihar is not just a festival, but it is a symbol of respect towards our agricultural life, livestock and nature.

The exhibition organized on this occasion was informative and inspiring for farmers, youth and common people. The Chief Minister appreciated the agricultural technical progress after getting information about these equipment and said that Chhattisgarh’s farming will become even more profitable and sustainable by coordinating tradition and technology. By giving information about new technologies to the farmers, we can take the agricultural productivity of the state to new heights. A large number of common citizens, farmers, students and public representatives were present in the program. This event presented the unique confluence of Chhattisgarh’s folk culture and agricultural innovation in a lively form, which is a symbol of the state’s rich tradition and developmental thinking.
