Hardik Pandya's captaincy was not cut for nothing
After Rohit Sharma retired from the T20 format, it seemed that Hardik Pandya would now be the captain of the Indian team in T20. His becoming the captain seemed certain. But after the announcement of the T20 team on the Sri Lanka tour, everything changed for Pandya. Hardik, who was the vice-captain of India in the T20 World Cup, was included in the T20 series to be played in Sri Lanka. But only as a player. He was neither given the captaincy nor the vice-captaincy. Suryakumar Yadav was appointed as India’s new captain in T20 in his place. However, now there are reports that India’s chief selector Ajit Agarkar was also not very impressed with Hardik’s leadership skills.
Since the news of Hardik Pandya not becoming the captain came out, many reports have come in which it has been said that head coach Gambhir wanted Suryakumar Yadav to play the role, as he was not convinced with Hardik’s consistency and fitness. Meanwhile, a PTI report has now claimed that chief selector Ajit Agarkar too was not convinced with Hardik’s tactical awareness, which was essential for a successful captaincy stint.
