Gwalior Kidnapping: Police Nab Two in Shootout, Main Accused Still Missing

Kidnappers of 6-Year-Old Caught After Police Encounter in Morena

Gwalior – The mastermind behind the kidnapping of six-year-old Shivay, son of sugar trader Rahul Gupta, was caught in a dramatic police operation in Morena. The accused, Rahul Gurjar from Garhora, and his accomplice, Bunty alias Lalla Gurjar from Shivram Ka Pura, were shot and arrested by the Morena police team around midnight.

Police Encounter Leads to Arrest

The accused managed to evade capture for three days before being tracked down near the Kutwar Dam bridge in Morena’s Mata Basaiya police station area. As soon as the criminals spotted the police, they opened fire, hitting police vehicles. In response, the police fired back, injuring both men in their legs. The suspects collapsed and were taken into custody before being shifted to a hospital for treatment.

Business Dispute Behind the Kidnapping

Preliminary interrogation revealed that the kidnapping stemmed from a longstanding business dispute between the accused, Rahul Gurjar, and Shivay’s maternal uncle, Arun Goyal, a resident of Morena. The tension escalated over a deal involving two kilograms of gold, which led to a falling-out between them.

The Kidnappers Planned to Demand ₹1 Crore

To settle scores with Arun Bansal, another relative of Shivay, the accused plotted the child’s abduction and planned to demand a ₹1 crore ransom. Rahul Gurjar, along with Bunty, conducted surveillance before executing the kidnapping with two other accomplices—Rahul Gurjar from Piprai and Bhola from Garhora, Saraychola. The gang used a red Apache motorcycle for the abduction, which has since been recovered. After the kidnapping, they hid in Morena to avoid police detection.

Some Suspects Still on the Run

The kidnapping gang was divided into different roles—Rahul Gurjar and Bunty planned the operation, while Rahul and Bhola executed the abduction. On the day of the crime, both Rahul and Bunty were present at the scene. Police sources revealed that one of the accused was briefly caught but managed to escape by jumping onto a moving truck. The search for the remaining fugitives continues.

Possible Connection to a Previous Kidnapping Case

Investigators are also looking into a possible link between this case and an attempted abduction from a year ago. On February 5, 2024, an attempt was made to kidnap Arun Bansal’s son, Gaurav, near Morena’s Station Road. The suspects in that case were never caught, and police believe there may be a connection. However, during interrogation, Rahul Gurjar denied involvement.

Bunty’s Confession: “We Had No Choice But to Let the Child Go”

During a brief hospital interview, Bunty admitted they had to abandon the child due to mounting police pressure. “The police had surrounded us from all sides, so we had no option but to leave Shivay and flee,” he said.

Tensions Between Gwalior and Morena Police

Even after the kidnappers’ arrest, police teams from both Gwalior and Morena were actively searching the area. Rumors circulated that a local police officer facilitated the criminals’ surrender, leading to friction between the two police units. By nightfall, Gwalior police teams had returned, but speculation and discussions about the case continued—some even involving the name of a prominent political figure.
