Government will empower small and marginal farmers under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi: Union Agriculture Minister Chauhan

Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) will be promoted as a movement to empower the small and marginal farmers of the country. In this episode, FPO fairs will be organized by the Central Government across the country, through which the FPOs of the farmers will get encouragement. The objective of the government is that through FPOs, our farmer brothers and sisters stand on their own feet and their standard of living rises. Shri Chauhan said this in the FPO fair organized at Delhi Haat, INA today. Union Minister Shri Chauhan visited each stall and talked to the FPO operators and farmers, asked about their progress through FPOs, and also took suggestions.

Union Minister Shri Chauhan said that farmer welfare is paramount under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Modi. In this direction, our Farmer Producer Organizations-FPOs have a big role in giving new impetus to the rural economy and organizing the growing strength of the small farmers of the country. The government is paying attention to the fact that the farmers associated with FPOs should also get a good platform to sell their products, which will not only benefit them but consumers will also get quality products at the right price. Shri Chauhan said that the future of FPOs is very bright, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Modi, we will try to take this movement very far. Shri Chauhan said that the Government of India’s plan to create 10 thousand new FPOs across the country is progressing very successfully, under which more than nine and a quarter thousand FPOs have been created so far, this is a very big family of FPOs and we will all move forward together. The central government is standing with full strength in strengthening the farmers through FPOs. He appealed to the FPOs to take advantage of other schemes of the Center including Agri Infra Fund of Rs 1 lakh crore for economic strength. Shri Chauhan said that to give more strength to the FPO movement, this scheme will also be reviewed at the ministry level.
FPOs from Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Himachal, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir participated in the fair. All FPOs are being linked to ONDC. Additional Secretary of Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Faiz Ahmed Kidwai, Maninder Kaur Dwivedi, Shubha Thakur and other officials were present.
