Government is committed to make farmers economically prosperous: Minister Shri Rajput

Bhopal: The government is fully committed to promote the economic progress of farmers and modern farming. The two-day district level Millets Food Festival cum Agriculture Fair was inaugurated in Sagar with an exhibition of agricultural equipment , honoring the innovation of farmers and a pledge to promote millets production. The State’s Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Minister Shri Govind Singh Rajput inaugurated the fair and interacted with the farmers. MP Smt. Lata Wankhede , MLA Shailendra Jain , District Panchayat Vice President Devendra Singh along with public representatives and farmers participated in the program.

Food Minister Shri Rajput informed that so far, payment of Rs. 118 crore has been made to the farmers for the food grains procured on the support price. The process of the remaining payment is also going on at a fast pace. Taking a special initiative to ensure that farmers do not face shortage of gunny bags , two special trains are being sent to Sagar district. This will solve the problems being faced in procurement.

Farmers were motivated to use superseeder and happyseeder

Minister Shri Rajput appealed to the farmers to stop the practice of burning stubble in the fields. This destroys the fertility of the land and also pollutes the environment. He encouraged the farmers to use machines like Superseeder and Happyseeder , which convert stubble into straw and mix it in the field. The minister himself sat on these machines in the exhibition and appealed to the farmers to adopt these techniques.

Minister Rajput said that our ancestors lived a healthy and long life by consuming coarse grains. He urged farmers to increase the production and consumption of coarse grains (millets).

Innovative farmers honored

Minister Shri Rajput, citing the example of innovative farmers Shri Akash Chaurasia and Shri Anand Jain of Sagar district, appealed to the farmers to visit their farm houses and learn the techniques of modern and natural farming. On this occasion, many advanced farmers were honored by presenting certificates , shawls and coconuts. The Millets Food Festival and Krishi Mela organized in Sagar district gave the message that the government is not only making policies for the prosperity of farmers , but is also making efforts to implement them at the ground level. Initiatives like natural farming , millets production and solar energy will further strengthen the economic condition of farmers in future.

Promote millets , increase income along with health: Dr. Lata Wankhede

Sagar Parliamentary Constituency MP Smt. Lata Wankhede also advised the farmers to promote millets production and become self-reliant by adopting new technologies. She said that the year 2023 was declared as ‘ International Millets Year ‘ by Prime Minister Narendra Modi , under which awareness campaigns are being run across the country.

Adopt natural farming and solar energy: Shri Shailendra Jain

MLA Shri Shailendra Jain suggested to the farmers that they should use chemical medicines as little as possible and produce more and more medicinal crops. He also emphasized on the use of solar energy. The MLA said that solar energy will not only facilitate irrigation but will also save the cost of electricity , due to which the income of farmers can be doubled.

Exhibition of agricultural machinery became the center of attraction

A special exhibition of agricultural equipment and techniques was organized in the fair. In this, farmers got information about the latest means including superseeder , happyseeder , drip irrigation system , organic fertilizer manufacturing technology.
