General public should come forward and participate in "Jal Ganga Samvardhan" campaign: Chief Minister Dr. Yadav
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has called for active participation in the special campaign of “Water Conservation-Samvardhan” “Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan” starting from World Environment Day. On the instructions of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, while being sensitive towards water and nature in accordance with traditional indigenous vision and culture, the priority-based “Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan” is starting from World Environment Day (5 June 2024) to scientifically promote the medicinal properties of water, its universality. It will run till Ganga Dashami (16 June 2024). The campaign will be made grand by successfully implementing various activities to inspire the general public for water conservation and protection.
In the Jal Ganga Samvardhan special campaign, the upgradation work of water structures will be done on the basis of top priority. The drains or sewers of dirty water coming from the water structures will be purified after diversion and released into the water structure. With the aim of making water structures business and employment oriented, possibilities like tourism, fisheries, water chestnut production have been clearly determined. Geo tagging of the identified water structures will also be done through mobile app. Priority will be given to use the soil and manure extracted from the water storage structure in the fields of local farmers. Buffer zones will be created as much as possible on the banks of water structures. In this zone, works like development of green area parks will be done to protect from encroachment and to prevent erosion of river ponds. The quality of water of water structures in urban areas will also be checked.
In Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan, a campaign will be run in the entire state for the conservation and revival of all the major rivers of the state (Narmada, Chambal, Tapti, Son, Betwa, Tawa, Kshipra, Ken, Sindhu, Parvati, Tons etc.) and historical and traditional water structures (ponds, lakes, wells, stepwells etc.). In this, programs of public interest will be organized with massive cleanliness, decoration and folk cultural presentations/bhajans at religious places, pilgrimage sites, fairs and archaeological assets near major rivers and water sources.
In the special campaign, satellite mapping of about 212 rivers, water structures and traditional water sources of the state will be done and survey based documentary books will be published with references of ancient literature, tradition, folk tales. Cultural and traditional and literature and folk literature studies of rivers and suggestions will be taken for keeping rivers, historical traditional water structures flowing continuously. Along with this, study of engineering aspect, folder creation, booklet, subject related articles will also be published. In the special campaign, historical and traditional water structures will be freed from encroachment. Along with this, audio-video CDs will be released.
In the special campaign, renovation, maintenance of ancient temples, archaeological assets related to all the major rivers of the state and study and conservation of aquatic life, flora etc. will be done. In this, Kshipra Parikrama of Ujjain, Chunari to Kshipra river, jewellery offering festival, Panchamrit worship and religious events on the banks of Narmada will be organized with public participation.
In the special campaign, a dignified musical presentation will be organized on the banks of the Shipra River on June 15 and 16, 2024. Along with this, Doli Bua, Harikatha (Narada Katha singing tradition) presentation and artists will also be honored specially. Traditional Shipra Parikrama will be organized on a large scale on Ganga Dashami.
For the purpose of public awareness, a water conference will be organized in every urban body on June 6. On June 8, water structures will be cleaned by doing shramdaan with public participation. On June 9, Kalash Yatra will be organized near the water structures, as well as on June 9, essay and painting competitions will be organized on the subject of water conservation, in which local students will participate. From June 10 to 16, as per the plan, along with renovation, cleaning of water structures will also be done. On the occasion of Ganga Dashami on June 15 and 16, Ganga Aarti, Bhajan Samaroh etc. will be organized under cultural programs on the banks of major water sources. It has also been directed that the monitoring of conservation, renovation and upgradation program of water sources will be done daily. During this campaign, citizens residing in urban areas will also be encouraged to use rain water harvesting system.
Will take pledge of Jalabhishek Abhiyan on Ganga Dashami
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav will take pledge of Jalabhishek Abhiyan planned for conservation, promotion, revival and cleanliness of rivers and water structure of the state on Ganga Dashami (16 June 2024). The pledge of Jalabhishek will be taken by the general public in the presence of all public representatives in the headquarters of village, panchayat, district, urban body and districts across the state. Every year, by starting Jalabhishek Abhiyan from Varsha-Pratipada (Srishti Nirman Diwas and Vikram Samvat First Day), a campaign for cleanliness and water conservation of all major rivers and water structures of the state including Shipra will be run across the state.
