From UCC to Religious Crackdowns – Dhami Govt’s Latest Hindutva-Focused Decision

The Dhami government in Uttarakhand has once again taken a major decision that aligns with its Hindutva image. The government has decided to include Vikram Samvat and Hindu months in all official notifications issued in the state. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has instructed officials to issue an immediate order regarding this. He has directed the Chief Secretary to ensure that the General Administration Department includes these traditional time references in future notifications, foundation stones, and inauguration plaques. The Dhami government has been emphasizing the promotion of Uttarakhand’s cultural heritage and Indian traditions. As part of this effort, CM Dhami has ordered that all government notifications, gazette announcements, inauguration plaques, and foundation stones in the state will now include dates based on the Vikram Samvat calendar along with the Gregorian calendar. This means mentions of Hindu months like Phalgun, Krishna Paksha, or Shukla Paksha will also be included.
Chief Minister Dhami stated that Vikram Samvat is an integral part of Indian culture and traditions. His government has taken several major decisions in line with its Hindutva stance. Known for his tough and decisive actions, CM Dhami has been making policies that further strengthen his image as a pro-Hindutva leader. One of his most significant decisions was the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Uttarakhand, a move considered bold and historic. The Dhami government has also taken strict actions against illegal religious structures, launched crackdowns against religious conversions, and acted against issues like ‘spitting jihad’ and illegal encroachments.
